Willie Baronet is an artist, professor and entrepreneur. Willie has purchased well over 1,000 signs from the Homeless since 1993 and he uses this collection to create installations to raise awareness about homelessness.
Today, TMO and Willie discuss his ongoing art project We Are All Homeless and the new documentary Signs of Humanity. Willie’s important work explores the inter-related themes of home, homelessness, compassion and humanity.
Willie and his work has been featured on NPR, Huffington Post, UPworthy and TEDx among others.
Willie worked hither and yon for ad agencies and design firms prior to starting GroupBaronet in 1992. His work has been featured in Communication Arts, Graphis, AIGA Graphic Design Annual, New York Art Directors Annual, The One Show, Print Casebooks, Annual Report Trends, The Type Directors Club Annual and Annual Report Design: A Historical Retrospective 1510-1990, organized by the Cooper-Hewitt National Museum of Design. His print and broadcast work has received numerous medals from the Dallas Advertising League’s Tops Show, the Dallas Society of Visual Communications and the Houston Art Directors Club. Throughout the years, Willie has worked with clients in just about every industry. He has served on the Board of Directors for the Texas AIGA, TITAS, Despair, Inc., The ManKind Project of North Texas and MergeMedia, and is currently on the Board of Directors of The Dallas Society of Visual Communications and the advisory board of AIGA/DFW.
He has spoken to various business marketing and creative organizations over the years, including TEDxSMU, and has judged many creative competitions including the prestigious Communication Arts Annual.
